Bernera Farmhouse is located 300 yards from the beach set in its own secluded glen on the north west coast of Scotland. This traditional Highland house has been beautifully renovated but retains original features such as wood panelled interior walls. The house stands in stunning Highland scenery — with a spate river and meadow on either side and the 1200 foot Glas Bheinn mountain to the rear.

This house offers a remote get-away from the stresses of modern life. It’s within walking distance of Glenelg village which has a General store and the well-known Glenelg Inn and pub. Down the coast is Sandaig beach where Gavin Maxwell wrote ‘Ring of Bright Water’ — otters can still be seen in the area as well as seals and birds of prey. Beyond Sandaig is the hamlet of Arnisdale where Bin Laden’s relatives (the tame red deer) can be patted and fed if they are feeling sociable. Eilean Donan Castle is over the hill — one of the most picturesque castles in Scotland with boat rental available on Loch Duich at Letterfearn. Glenelg is opposite the Isle of Skye and you can take the small ferry from here over the sea to Skye in the summer months.

Accommodation:
On the ground floor there is a modern kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, cooker and fridge — freezer. There is a ceiling clothes drying rack. The sitting room has traditional wood-lined walls and stove — lovely to relax in front of after a day in the hills or on the beach. There is a separate dining area with views over the meadow and down the Sound of Sleat across to Skye. There is access to an open veranda with wooden table and chairs for al fresco dining. Downstairs has a double bedroom, twin single bedroom, bathroom with loo and sink and a shower room with loo and sink.

Upstairs is a double bedroom with views across the meadow along with a twin bedded single room and adjoining box room. Outside the garden area is fenced and walled with areas of mature pine trees. At the rear is a grassed area — ideal for children to pitch tents or play unsupervised. The house is surrounded by a meadow and a spate river on either side. In the evenings our tame Pine Martens will attend expecting to be fed.
