Bernera Farmhouse is situated in its own secluded glen, sleeps 6 and has all the modern conveniences while retaining many traditional features such as wood lined interiors, enamel bath and modern wood burning stoves. The central heating is installed throughout and has traditional column style radiators. The house is also furnished with period furniture.
The farmhouse is a few hundred yards from the beach and within walking distance of the village in one direction and the glenelg – skye ferry in the other. Behind the farmhouse the track continues up to a wooded hill with views to Skye and the Islands. Downstairs the kitchen is fully fitted with cooker, full height fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and clothes drying rack suspended from the ceiling. The lounge like many of the rooms is wood lined and has ample sitting space for 6. The lounge features a modern wood burning stove and comfy furniture with a modern TV in a 50's cabinet. The dining area with views across the meadow to the sea and Skye leads off from the lounge area. From the dining area there is an open veranda has views to the sea and glen. Outside there is hard wood furniture with adequate space for eating outside and watching our resident House Martins and Pine Martins during the summer months.
Downstairs the first of four bedrooms has a double bed with period furniture and stove. An adjacent bathroom has a full size enamel bath, toilet and hand basin. Also downstairs there is a second double bedroom, shower room with modern fixed head power shower and toilet with hand basin. There is a handy entrance corridor at the back door with plenty of space for boots and hanging coats. There is easy access to the downstairs shower for cleaning up after a hard day exploring on the hills or after other outdoor activities. Upstairs, there are two further double bedrooms. One with a double bed and the other with twin singles with a further single bed in a box room adjoining. All the bedrooms have both dormer and roof windows with views across the meadow to the glen and sea beyond.
Outside the immediate grounds are walled or fenced with areas of mature pines. The house is surrounded by a meadow to the rear with a spate river at the front. In the garden there is a grassed area suitable for children's tents and unsupervised play, along with a large BBQ which clients are welcome to use.
